Las Vegas & Death Valley February 26-27
By now, I'd say my twice a year visit to Las Vegas has become a tradition. If you visited this website before, you might know the story by now. If not, check out the articles below (Las Vegas & Zion and Las Vegas & Lake Tahoe)...
Through missing my flight Friday night, I shortened the third trip in this series in a quite unpleasant way. Whatever, let's forget about the odyssey - I made it in time for Saturday morning and our planned trip to Death Valley National Park.
Death valley was really special this time and completely different from my August 2003 visit. It was hard to get into the valley, a series of rainstorms had washed away a number of streets. We eventually made it and were rewarded by an unusual, yet fascinating view of this normally extremely arid place. A sizeable lake had formed in the center of the valley, and towards the southern exit, all kinds of wildflowers were in full bloom.
Saturday night demands a spiffy location to hang out, and I must say we found it. The image shows the view we had from a balcony while partying at the Risqué de Paris. Risqué is Paris Las Vegas' ultra lounge.
